Upcoming Wednesday Workshops
Summer and Fall 2010
Below is a schedule of upcoming free computer and Internet workshops offered by the Belvedere-Tiburon Library Reference Department. Some workshops will be hands-on using the Library's laptop computers. For these workshops, every attendee will have his or her own computer to practice with. Because of the limited number of computers available, advance registration will be required for hands-on workshops. Please call the Reference Desk at 789-2661 to sign up, or stop by the desk any time during open hours. For repeat classes from previous months, preference will be given to patrons who have not taken the class before. The Library also offers free 1-on-1 Internet training by the Netsharks team of volunteer trainers.

Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint 2007
2-3:30pm in the Founders Room
Join our trainer Alexa Stoneman in this hands-on introduction to the popular Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 presentation software. Alexa will teach us how to format text, save a presentation, add a slide, use the outline pane, move between slides, add text in the outline pane, add text to a text box, move and resize a text box, add clip art, change the background, run a slide show, add a slide transition, and custom animation. Attendees should have prior experience using a computer. Experience with Microsoft Word 2007 is helpful. Space is limited! First Friday Drop-in Computer Lounge

Feeling challenged because you don't know how to use a computer? Conquer your frustrations and join us for a non-threatening drop-in computer lab. We'll set up our laptop computers in the Founders Room, and a librarian will be there to help you get started and answer your questions.
* Improve your mouse skills by playing simple mouse-practice
exercises.
* Learn to type with Mavis Beacon software.
* Exercise and challenge your brain with free online
brain games: play sudoku, solitaire, chess, work a crossword
puzzle, or learn a new game.

Facebook for Beginners
7:30pm Founders Room
Librarian Heather Lamb leads this workshop that will get you started with one of the most popular social networking sites. Facebook is a great way to meet friends ,find classmates and co-workers, and keep up on what they are doing. Once you add a friend to your Facebook friend list you will always know when they are adding things to their blog or updating their profile. Downloading Audio Books to iPod (PC version)
7:30pm Founders Room
In this demonstration lecture, Librarian Abbot Chambers will introduce two new downloadable audio book collections for iPod: MyiLibrary and the Northern California Digital Library MP3 collection. Topics covered will include searching and browsing, holds and check outs, downloading titles to your home computer, and copying files to an iPod. Abbot will be demonstrating using a PC computer and PC-formatted iPod, but the process is almost identical for those using a Mac computer. Please note that this is not a hands-on workshop. Introduction to iTunes

iTunes makes it easy to play and organize music, audiobooks, movies TV shows, and podcasts. In this class Librarian John Erdmann will cover the basics to get you up and running on iTunes. The topics will include installing the software and setting up an account, downloading a free song and video, subscribing to podcasts, syncing to your ipod, and more.
